Integrative medicine

Be still to know the absolute.
Be active to know the outer.
The two spring from the same source.
All of life is one whole.

Integrative medicine begins with the conventional Western medicine model of diagnosis and treatment, and integrates other healing traditions and therapies. Healing traditions of varying kinds such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, and journal therapy can be those incorporated in a treatment plan. Integrative medicine is the practice of medicine that reasserts the importance of the relationship between the practitioner and the patient, views and works with the patient holistically and affirms that health is more than the absence of disease.

I utilize a holistic mind-body focus, helping a client recover a balanced lifestyle, looking at life-work balance, relationships, stress management, exercise, nutrition, and spiritual health. My Western focus and practice can include making psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, utilizing my psychiatric prescriptive authority for adults, and using cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, time-line and humanistic therapies. My holistic practice of counseling, life coaching and psychotherapy includes working with the creativity process, mindfulness, and life purpose using journal therapy, guided imagery, values clarification, family history, and life review. Natural medicine and herbal consultations are offered when desired and appropriate to the condition(s) in the scope of holistic mental health practice.
